She awoke, panicked, to an overwhelming stench and the nights’ memories dismembered. She recalled a napkin and a pencil, the blunted led scrawling a grey impression against the white; was that a name declared or lines of flirtation? She remembered him in segments; a smile, blue eyes, almost-feminine hands, his isolated features ripped apart in her memory as if mentally mutilated. Shot glasses had twinkled in the pub lights, bright, kaleidoscopically disorientating, as a disjointed mouth spoke, asking to be played with. She turned now, uneasy, in her sticky sheets. And rolled onto a body bag.
